Who We Are
We are Girls in Data, a registered charity (Charity Number 1206234). We inspire girls to pursue future careers in data and technology. We act as the Data Controller for the personal data we collect. You can contact our Data Protection Officer at enquiries@girlsindata.co.uk.

Data We Collect and Why
1. Volunteers
We collect your data to manage your volunteering.
 · Data collected: Name, email address, telephone number, home address, job title, and organisation name.
 · Legal basis: Legitimate interests to coordinate school sessions.
2. School Contacts
We collect your data to coordinate and deliver our educational sessions.
 · Data collected: School name and address, email address and telephone number of 2 contacts.
 · Legal basis: Performance of a contract or legitimate interests to organise and deliver the requested sessions.

How We Share Your Data
We never sell your personal data. We only share your information with:
· Volunteers: We share school contacts with assigned volunteers to enable us to deliver the sessions.
· Schools: We share volunteer names with assigned schools for security and safeguarding verification.
· Service providers: Trusted IT, database, and email platforms that host our secure data systems.

Data Retention
We only keep your personal data for as long as necessary.
· Volunteers: We keep your data for 7 years after your last active session, unless legally required to keep it for a longer period.
· Schools: We keep your data for 7 years after our last contact to facilitate recurring sessions.

Your Rights
You have specific legal rights regarding your personal data:
· Access: You can request a copy of the data we hold about you.
· Correction: You can ask us to fix inaccurate or incomplete data.
· Erasure: You can ask us to delete your data under certain conditions.
· Restriction: You can ask us to limit how we use your data.
· Objection: You can object to us processing your data based on legitimate interests.
